Online Casinos Continue Impressive Display Despite Slight April Revenue Dip

Pennsylvania online casino revenue dropped slightly in April, but it doesn’t mean the industry is slowing down. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) reported that online casinos in the state produced $285.1 million in gross revenue for the month, which is second-best all-time.

iGaming platforms set the record in March at $294.2 million, which has certainly set a new bar for the industry. Online casinos suffered a 3.1% month-over-month decline, but a 34.4% year-over-year increase.

It’s clear that that the online casino vertical is still growing at a rapid pace, especially from last year. The drop-off in April does not indicate a further decline.

Breakdown of online casino April 2025 PA revenue

  • Online slots revenue: $226,911,808
  • Table games revenue: $55,892,309
  • Online poker revenue: $2,338,087

Quick analysis from March PA iGaming figures

iGaming produces $1 billion in YTD revenue

With April’s output, online casinos have already generated nearly $1.11 billion in year-to-date revenue. The state did not reach more than a $1 billion until May in 2024.

The Keystone State is on pace to produce $3.33 billion in revenue this year, which would easily clear the $2.71 billion in 2024.

Online casinos have posted the following totals to start the year, which averages out to $277.2 million a month:

  • January: $268.0 million
  • February: $261.5 million
  • March: $294.2 million
  • April: $285.1 million

Figures could reach near $300 million once again by the fourth quarter, as the sports calendar heats back up.

Valley Forge license reaches new heights

The Valley Forge license contains FanDuel and Stardust operators. However, it is believed that the former generates the majority of the revenue, since the PGCB does not break down revenue by operator.

The combination of FanDuel and Stardust recorded $85.2 million, which is a record for the license. FanDuel and Stardust increased revenue from last month ($84 million), despite the entire vertical experiencing a decline.

It is believed that FanDuel is the No. 1 operator in the Keystone State. It finished roughly $19 million behind the leading-license, Hollywood Penn National, which features Fanatics and Hollywood.

FanDuel also increased month-over-month in New Jersey, too, which isn’t surprising that it did in Pennsylvania. While FanDuel took another step up, its competitors seemed to take a step back.

Online poker could give vertical a boost next month

The PGCB began pooling players from New Jersey and Michigan in late April.

May is going to be a much more telling month in determining the impact of MSIGA, since it will have been up and running for entire month. It is certainly possible that the industry to break $3 million in online poker revenue next month.

BetMGM have already started networking player pools from other states. Pennsylvania has a higher popular than Michigan and New Jersey, which can easily put the Keystone State back on top of the poker standings.
